Meet the Members - Print & Design

We thought it would be a good idea to let you get to know more about Your Wedding Room members by interviewing them to find out what makes them tick. first up is Steve and Sharon from Print & Design  with the question being asked by Roger Knight

So, Steve & Sharon, You ready?

How did you get started?

We were both involved with the wedding industry - Steve did Wedding videos and I decorated cakes. Steve's daughter Sam was getting married, and she had painted a picture of her engagement in a hot air balloon. She wanted this incorporated on their invites, which is what we did.

Three separate guests at the wedding obviously liked what we did and asked us if we could do their stationery - and the rest as they say - is history!

 What makes you different?

Steve is an artist and is able to draw a sketch of your church for use on your Order of Service. Alternatively a picture of your venue can be used on your wedding stationery. An A4 copy of the drawing is given to the couple as a keepsake. (The date is marked - so that the groom can NEVER forget an anniversary!)

What is unique about your designs?

We don't have a catalogue as such, so at the first meeting, we invite our couples to choose the shape, any colour theme, design etc. We then make samples based on their ideas and keep going until they are happy with the result.

We want them to feel involved with the overall design and that makes it more personal to them, not just something that can be bought off the shelf.

Do all your invitations follow a basic design?

No, not at all. We pride ourselves that up to now, we have never said no - anything and everything is possible. We can do all the usual shapes and sizes - plus quite a few different ones - a double decker bus, a train ticket, a passport - just some of the many designs we have been asked to produce.

Is it just invitations that you do?

We are able to do all aspects of stationery that may be required:

At the beginning:- Save The Dates, Day & Evening Invitations

At the Church: - Order of Services

At the Reception:- Place Cards, Table Names, Menus & Seating Plans

and At The End:- Thank you cards.

We've also created signs, post boxes and even wrapping paper for the bridesmaids gifts!

  Why do you do it?

We do it because we love it. With over 20 years of experience,

we are able to guide our couples through all the pitfalls to

ensure that they have a successful, special day.

For most couples, this is the first time that they have had to

organise a wedding, which can be a very daunting task. We hope

that with our help and expertise they will have a worry free

time so that they can truly enjoy the day.

We do receive a lot of work through personal recommendations,

and have families returning for other brothers and sisters who

are now getting married. Right at the beginning as we started

out we did a wedding and we have just now completed the

daughters stationery! When it gets round to the grandchildren

I think it will be time to retire.

Until then, we look forward to the new challenges for the

coming year.
